COMMUNITY EVENTS THIS WEEK

THOMASTON’S  FIRE  CHIEF  EDDIE  LIFSEY  WILL  BE  THE  GUEST SPEAKER  AT  THE  SEPTEMBER  MEETING  OF  THE  UPSON  HISTORICAL  SOCIETY    MONDAY, SEPT. 26,   AT  7PM  AT  THE  ARCHIVES.  HE  WILL  DISCUSS  THE  HISTORY  OF  THE  FIRE  DEPARTMENT.  THE  PROGRAM  IS  FREE   AND  OPEN  TO  THE  PUBLIC.

THE  THOMASTON-UPSON  BOARD  OF  EDUCATION  WILL  BE HOSTING A  COMMUNITY  FORUM,  TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER  27 AT  6PM IN  THE  BOARDROOM  AT  THE  CENTRAL  OFFICE. ALL  PARENTS, STUDENTS  AND COMMUNITY  MEMBERS ARE INVITED  TO ATTEND AND ASK QUESTIONS  AND  OFFER  COMMENTS.

SUPPORT  THE  CAUSE  OF  ADULT LITERACY IN  UPSON  COUNTY  AND  HAVE  AN ENJOYABLE  EVENING  TUESDAY  AT  7PM   BY  ATTENDING  THE  FIRST  ANNUAL UPSON  READ TRIVIA  BEE, IN  THE  UPSON-LEE  SOUTH  ELEMENTARY  CAFETERIA. NO  ADMISSION  WILL  BE  CHARGED  AND  DOOR  PRIZES  WILL  BE  AWARDED.

THERE  WILL  BE  A  RELAY  FOR  LIFE  WRAP UP  MEETING  TUESDAY, SEPT. 27 AT  6PM  AT  THE THOMASTON-UPSON   CIVIC  CENTER. THE  CELEBRATION  WILL  INCLUDE AWARDS,PRIZES  AND  REFRESHMENTS  AND  DETAILS  OF  THE  2012 RELAY  FOR  LIFE.

AS  PART OF PROSTATE  AWARENESS MONTH, UPSON  REGIONAL  MEDICAL  CENTER WILL OFFER  POTENTIALLY  LIFE-SAVING  SCREENING FOR  MEN  AT  NO  COST, TUESDAY,SEPT. 27,FROM  5;30 TO  8PM IN  THE  HOSPITAL’S  AMBULATORY  CARE  CENTER, RIGHT OFF THE MAIN  LOBBY. THE  HOSPITAL WILL  PROVIDE  FREE PROSTATE AND  COLORECTAL SCREENINGS.  PRE-REGISTRATION  IS  RECOMMENDED. CALL   706-647-8111  EXT.1519.
